Be random.

So, first of all.... I have been waiting for Proof to come out with some wood prescription glasses so I can finally fill my prescription I got back in September... and it looks like they are finally here!

Well, almost- This particular model are just the samples of what is to come...but I am in love with them and had to give you a sneak peek of what is coming our way.

Keep you posted when my real ones arrive.
I realize the incredibly goofy face...only photo we got with the glasses on.

For now, let's move on to today's post.
Yesterday, I was very much in a random mood.
I went into my closet- saw my yellow tights. Put them on first.
Then, I started digging around for whatever blouse I thought would work.... found one.
Then, I really felt like wearing the sparkle shoes. Done.
Now for a skirt... this was tricky.... because length can be a huge factor with bright tights. You don't want one too long...especially for shorties like me.
Found a skirt...added a few accessories (thank you grandma shirley) done. All eady for church.

My tip for the day is: don't be afraid to pair random things together...Start with what you are in the mood for and go from there. Try something on even if they seem like they would work- you just may end up liking it.

Most importantly, have fun exploring your closet.

Stand on Solid Ground

Sometimes it can be overwhelming to change your wardrobe from summer to fall, fall to winter, and so on. So I have started a little system for myself. I start from the ground up. Being a hairdresser who stands all day long shoes are very important. I can't indulge in any cute cheap slip ons or sassy stillettos. But I love great shoes. So I start my transition into the new seasons fashions with an amazing pair of shoes. I don't break the bank but I do buy a pair that I love and that will treat my feet right all day at work. My favorite pair right now are my Jeffrey Campbell boots. They are colorful and unique and make any outfit interesting. They have enough color and versatility that they inspire many a new outfit. And they help take me in a specific direction for any new additions to my cold weather closet. So get out there and chose your starting point! (Jeffrey Campbell available at www.solestruck.com)

Brunettes Have More Fun!

Don't get me wrong, I adore my blonde clients and sported blonde locks for years. But I have to say I absolutely love the brunette shades I have been using from Artease colors. They are some of the richest most beautiful shades I've ever seen. Today I touched up Cristi's deep chesnut hair.  I use a neutral shade in a level 4 and add a touch of a blue additive (yes. Blue) to prevent an overly warm undertone. Her original color was done with this shade as the base color and a block coloring techique that added an intense brown with a violet tone and a sandy brown as the lighter shade. So remember, brunettes can have more fun too. Start looking through those swatch books and find your perfect dark hue.

Forever Favorites

All right ladies! You know who you are...lining up at Forever 32 and HnM or the kiosk in the mall selling the tshirt that's a tank top and a tube dress. Please don't waste your entire shopping budget at these places. I am not saying that there are not amazing items to be found there that bring your whole closet up to speed. But...don't forget to invest in a few items that you know you will have forever, that will last forever, that you can find a cute accessory for at Forever! Great example: I bought a blazer at BCBG in downtown Portland ten years ago. It is aaaaaadorable. I can't remember what I spent on it but less than $200. It is a gorgeous shade of blue with brown leather detailing and so posh paisley liner. I have worn it a gazillion times and have always dry cleaned it (just had the liner repaired for maybe $15). I still wear it all the time and get lots of compliments. So before you splurge on a bunch of super trendy stuff that won't hold up after two washes, pick one thing that you can see yourself in for the long haul. (P.S. I looooove Forver 32 and HnM and don't want to discourage you from shopping there too)

What does your coat say about you?

What does your coat actually say about you? Are you Bright and Sunny? Casual and Comfortable? Fun and Sassy?
Let me introduce you to my newest addition to my coat collection.
I love it because it is Simple yet Detailed.
Sorta like me!
I am someone who likes things to be simple yet put a lot of time in the little details of things.

I am in love.

Love the bow
Love the ruffles
Pair it with a cute pair of tall boots
You could also add a scarf...
What's your opinion?
With or without the scarf?
For more on how to choose a coat and where I got these pieces- stay tuned for Friday's How Does She post.
xoxo.
